What does "exchange engine" mean in the case of an engine failure?
Do you have engine damage and are you advised to have an engine replaced? Then you are right with us. We specialize in engine overhaul. You will receive a completely overhauled exchange engine from us, and we will get your old engine back in exchange. If the old engine can be overhauled, we will overhaul the engine. Please take into account our surcharge for old engines that cannot be overhauled. This surcharge arises because in this case we have to get a "new" old engine again, which we can overhaul. If necessary, your old engine can still be overhauled after the engine damage, but the repair is associated with very high costs. Unfortunately, we cannot always tell you in advance whether your engine can be overhauled or not. We only see the damage once we have disassembled the engine. For example, engines are not rebuildable if they are cracked or broken, or if the valves are torn off. As a rule, engines that "only" suffer from high oil consumption can be overhauled without any problems. Another good sign of overtaking ability is when the engine is still running.
Exchange engine with installation after engine damage
In our workshop, we offer you the complete service for the repair of your vehicle after engine damage:
- Collection of your vehicle throughout Germany and in the neighboring countries (only peripheral areas)
- Installation of a refurbished replacement engine without attachments - we can also change other attachments if required
Once the repair is complete, your vehicle will be ready for pickup. Our place has a good train connection and can be reached via Kassel or Fulda. Combine your pick-up with a visit to Northern Hesse. On request, we will also be happy to send you an information brochure about our region.
Why should you decide to have your engine repaired in our workshop?
We have over 20 years of experience in engine repairs. Overhauling engines is our daily business. Our colleagues specialize in installing replacement engines. Each replacement engine has its own special features that must be taken into account during overhaul and installation. We know from experience that the complete engine replacement is rarely carried out in car workshops and that installation errors regularly occur. Therefore, in the event of engine damage, we recommend that you only have the engine replaced by an expert who specializes in this work. Even if it might be a little further to get to us, your vehicle is in very good hands with us.
Exchange engine for shipment
We offer you a variety of engines from VW, Audi, Škoda and Seat for installation in your car workshop. Please bear in mind that every engine has its own peculiarities when it comes to installation. The installation may therefore only be carried out by qualified specialists. We recommend that the installation should only be carried out by experienced car mechanics. You will receive our motors in exchange. This means that we get your old, defective engine back - no matter what condition it is in. However, we have to charge a surcharge for old parts that cannot be overhauled.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Order Process for Engine Delivery:
To place your order, please first fill out our order form. You can find the form under Downloads. Upon receipt of your order, we will prepare an exchange engine for you (please inquire about current delivery times). At the same time, you will receive an order confirmation from us. We ask you to transfer the specified amount to the given bank account.
After completion and receipt of payment, we will ship the exchange engine by freight. You will also receive the invoice for your records and as proof of warranty. The transport time within Germany is 1-3 working days. Transport times within the EU will be provided upon request.
After delivery of the exchange engine, you can transfer the attachments from your engine to the exchange engine. The old part will not be taken back directly by the freight company. We deliver the exchange engine in a packaging crate. The old part should also be packed in this crate. Once you have packed the old part (please follow the included installation and break-in instructions), send us an email. We will then arrange for the freight company to pick it up. Please also inform us of any special requests for the pickup (time, address) directly in this email. We will pass this information on to the freight company accordingly.
Alternatively, we can also offer to overhaul your engine. In this case, we will have your engine picked up by the freight company once you have removed and packed it (Important: The engine must not contain any fluids!). After the overhaul at our facility, you will receive our invoice. Shipping will take place immediately after receipt of payment.
Order Process for Vehicle Repair:
If you have commissioned us to install an exchange engine, we request that you deliver the vehicle in time for the appointment. Delivery appointments outside of regular opening hours are possible - but please arrange an appointment. If you have commissioned us to pick up the vehicle, we will pick it up from you in the week before the appointment. We will discuss the exact pickup date with you by phone.
After the repair is completed, our master mechanic will conduct an extensive test drive. Everything will be checked again afterward. All fluids will be topped up. Once the master mechanic has given the approval, you will receive a notification that your vehicle is ready for pickup.
Please note that the repair invoice must be paid in full upon vehicle handover. You can pay the invoice on-site with an EC card or in cash, or you can transfer the invoice amount in advance. Please bring a transfer receipt from the bank (an online receipt is not sufficient) if you choose to pay in advance.

Note on the overtaking capability of engines
Please note that we are dealing with engines in exchange. i.e. we will install an overhauled engine for you, and we will keep your old part in exchange. If your old engine cannot be overhauled, we have to charge a surcharge. This surcharge depends on the respective engine. The prices can be found with the respective engines. We would also be happy to make you an offer. We also list any additional costs here.
Engines are not rebuildable if they are cracked, broken, or the valves are ripped off. Engines that have been assembled from defective parts are also classified as not capable of being overhauled.
As a rule, engines that are still running but suffer from high oil consumption or where the compression is too low can still be overhauled.
We check your engine when we have removed it and inform you if it cannot be overhauled. When shipping engines, we create a report with pictures of the damage for engines that cannot be overhauled.
However, we can only make a 100% statement whether an engine can be overtaken or not once we have opened the engine. Only then will the damage become apparent.
